Mounties protest arrest of raises
RCMP members are protesting a wage increase rollback announced just before Christmas.
So far, over 3,000 RCMP members and supporters have signed an online petition at callforbackup.ca.
But the fight is not so much over money, but over the future of the force, says Staff Sgt. Murray Brown. The result of Ottawa’s belt-tightening is that the RCMP will find it harder to keep senior officers and recruit new members, said the officer, based in Halifax.
