Typical gov’t rhetoric when dealing with the RCMP and the resources being limited. Retired from the outfit 01-09-11 ( good day to get out) and remember the treasury branch messing with wages in the 80’s and 90’s. Smoke show was accepted because there was nothing you could do. The Force as a whole was far back in the pay scales those days when competing with other large Canadian PD’s and only recently regained ground. I really wonder what is going to happen especially members in BC once the Olympics is out of the way. I know of a few that are staying on till the end of the Games and then to pension. I suspect there will be a mass exodus and BC membership will hurt with diminished numbers.
Money talks especially when the top end of one’s wages are calculated into your pension. Hope the Feds come to their senses or they are going to be scraping for replacements.
